I have been using Sauna since my youth, having had my first in the famous or should I say infamous clubs in K-Rd.  As I became older I found myself always booking into a motel or hotel that had a sauna and the love continued.  

It wasn't until the late 80's that I was in a motel with a Sauna that did not get up to temperature that I took the next step.  I sold my house and booked a flight to Melbourne then onto Sweden, through Finland and back via the USA to learn all I could about the manufacture and usage of Sauna.  On returning I had made contact with every major Sauna supplier in the world i.e. Tylo, Helo, Mr Steam, SAWO, and set about manufacturing in a garage in West Auckland - 28 years and some 2000 Sauna later, I am still building Sauna in West Auckland.  

My true love is meeting the fellow Sauna enthusiasts as they have their own stories so by creating our own Society, we have a window for discussion and swapping ideas as through my travel and experience I have found that there is no ONE way of using Sauna - it is about maximising the experience.

Along with myself, members of this Society have been producing Sauna and Steam Rooms for nearly 30 years with combined experience of over 50 years.  There is also a lack of understanding of Sauna by many design professionals and it is hoped that this can be a point of contact and forum for discussing these issues offering our expertise to councils in order to maximise our Rates dollars with sound and sustainable Sauna and Steam Rooms.
